Step 1 / 3
Take a front selfie
Look straight into the camera with your whole head in the frame, hair as you usually wear it, no hat. Even lighting works best.
Step 2 / 3 · optional
Now a side photo (~45°)
Turn your head slightly to one side for a second photo. The extra angle lets the AI fit the hat to the real shape of your head.

The bowler, or derby in the US, is a hard felt hat with a rounded dome crown and a short brim curled up at the sides. The hatmakers Thomas and William Bowler made the first one in London in 1849, to an order from the hatters James Lock & Co. for a customer who wanted to protect his gamekeepers' heads from low branches; the felt is stiffened with shellac to make it hard.
Because it is rigid, a bowler must fit exactly: it cannot give to your head the way soft felt does. Wear it straight and level, sitting just above the eyebrows.
FAQ
Is a bowler the same as a derby?
Yes. Bowler is the British name, derby the American one.
How should a bowler fit?
Exactly: the hard felt does not give, so it should sit level without pressing anywhere and without rocking. Measure your head and buy that size; sizing tape can fix a hat that is slightly loose.
