Step 1 / 3
Take a front selfie
Look straight into the camera with your whole head in the frame, hair as you usually wear it, no hat. Even lighting works best.
Step 2 / 3 · optional
Now a side photo (~45°)
Turn your head slightly to one side for a second photo. The extra angle lets the AI fit the hat to the real shape of your head.

A boater is a stiff straw hat, traditionally of sennit straw, with a flat-topped crown, straight sides and a flat brim, finished with a ribbon band that is often striped in club or school colors. It was the summer hat of rowing and boating in the late 1800s, hence the name.
It is a formal summer hat that sits level on the head, never tilted far. Because the straw is rigid, size matters: it should fit snugly, since it cannot give.
FAQ
When do you wear a boater?
In summer, with lighter tailoring: regattas, garden parties, summer weddings and race days. It is formal for a straw hat.
Boater or Panama hat?
The boater is stiff, with a flat top and a flat brim; the Panama is woven from fine toquilla straw and shaped like a fedora with a pinched crown, so it is softer and more casual.
